What Are Peptides?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids—the building blocks of proteins—that naturally occur throughout the human body. They act as signaling molecules, helping cells communicate and regulate a wide range of biological processes, including metabolism, recovery, hormone production, immune function, tissue repair, and healthy aging.
Some peptide therapies are prescribed by licensed healthcare providers to support specific health goals when medically appropriate. Depending on the individual and the therapy, peptides may be used to support recovery, body composition, hormonal balance, or overall wellness.
At Meya Wellness, peptide therapy is available only following evaluation by an independent licensed healthcare provider through our clinical partner. Every treatment recommendation is based on your individual health history, current medications, and wellness goals.

What Are GLP-1 Medications?
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) medications are prescription therapies that mimic a naturally occurring hormone involved in regulating appetite, digestion, blood sugar, and metabolism.
Originally developed to help manage type 2 diabetes, GLP-1 medications are now also prescribed for chronic weight management in appropriate patients. They work by helping people feel fuller for longer, slowing stomach emptying, and supporting healthier appetite regulation.
At Meya Wellness, GLP-1 therapy is prescribed only when medically appropriate following an evaluation by an independent licensed healthcare provider. Your provider considers your medical history, current medications, and health goals before recommending treatment.

What's the Difference Between 503A and 503B Pharmacies?
When medication is prescribed through Meya Wellness, it is dispensed through licensed U.S. pharmacy partners that meet established regulatory requirements.
503A Compounding Pharmacies
503A compounding pharmacies prepare individualized medications based on a prescription for a specific patient. These pharmacies are licensed by their state boards of pharmacy and operate under applicable federal and state regulations.
503B Outsourcing Facilities
503B outsourcing facilities are FDA-registered pharmacies that compound medications under Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) standards and are subject to FDA oversight.
Both 503A and 503B pharmacy partners perform quality testing for identity, potency, and sterility before medications are dispensed.
Using regulated pharmacy partners helps ensure patients receive medications prepared through established pharmacy standards rather than unregulated online sources.

What Does Physician-Guided Care Mean?
Physician-guided care means your treatment is based on your health—not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Through Meya Wellness, independent licensed healthcare providers evaluate your medical history, current medications, laboratory results (when appropriate), existing health conditions, and personal wellness goals before determining whether treatment is medically appropriate.
Your provider also monitors your progress through follow-up appointments and can adjust your treatment plan over time based on your individual response.
Healthcare decisions are always made by your licensed healthcare provider—not by Meya Wellness.

Understanding Hormone Optimization
Hormones help regulate many essential functions throughout the body, including metabolism, energy levels, mood, sleep, reproductive health, muscle maintenance, and overall well-being.
Hormone levels naturally change throughout life, and for some individuals, these changes may contribute to symptoms that affect quality of life.
When clinically appropriate, independent licensed healthcare providers may evaluate hormone levels through laboratory testing and develop individualized treatment recommendations based on your symptoms, medical history, and lab results.
Depending on your needs, treatment may include support for testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, thyroid health, menopause, perimenopause, or other aspects of hormonal health.
Every treatment plan is personalized, and recommendations are made only after a comprehensive clinical evaluation.

What Happens During a Telehealth Consultation?
Your care begins with a secure online health assessment, where you'll provide information about your medical history, medications, symptoms, and wellness goals.
An independent licensed healthcare provider reviews your information and determines whether additional questions or laboratory testing are needed before making treatment recommendations.
If treatment is medically appropriate, your provider develops a personalized care plan based on your individual health profile.
Throughout your program, you'll continue to have access to follow-up appointments and ongoing clinical support, which are included in your treatment program.

How Labcorp® and Quest Diagnostics® Testing Works
Some treatment programs require laboratory testing before care begins, while others may not.
When laboratory testing is recommended, your healthcare provider can order testing through trusted national laboratories, including Labcorp® and Quest Diagnostics®.
After your order is placed, you'll receive instructions for scheduling your laboratory visit at a convenient participating location.
Once your results are available, your provider reviews them alongside your health history and wellness goals to determine the most appropriate next steps.
Is laboratory testing included?
Laboratory testing is billed separately from your treatment program.
If you have health insurance, you may also choose to work with your primary care provider to obtain appropriate laboratory testing through your insurance, if they are willing to order the recommended tests.
When clinically appropriate, your healthcare provider may also be able to review recent qualifying laboratory results, which may eliminate the need for repeat testing.

What's the Difference Between Research Peptides and Prescribed Peptide Therapy?
Not all peptide products are the same.
Many products sold online are marketed as "For Research Use Only" and are not intended for human use. These products are often sold outside regulated healthcare and pharmacy systems and may not be subject to the same quality standards or clinical oversight as prescription medications.
Independent analyses of thousands of gray-market peptide samples have reported high rates of quality failures, including products that did not match their labeled contents and some that showed measurable endotoxin contamination.
In contrast, peptide therapies prescribed through Meya Wellness are available only after evaluation by an independent licensed healthcare provider and, when medically appropriate, are dispensed through licensed U.S. 503A compounding pharmacies or FDA-registered 503B outsourcing facilities. These pharmacy partners operate under applicable federal and state regulatory requirements and perform quality testing for identity, potency, and sterility before medications are dispensed.
Our goal is to help patients access personalized care through regulated clinical and pharmacy channels, with ongoing guidance from licensed healthcare professionals throughout their treatment journey.
