1. What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth involves delivering healthcare services through electronic communications, digital technology, or other remote methods when a healthcare provider and patient are not physically in the same location.
Depending on the services requested, telehealth may involve:
-
Electronic medical intake questionnaires
-
Review of medical history and current medications
-
Secure communication with licensed healthcare professionals
-
Video, telephone, or asynchronous consultations where legally permitted and clinically appropriate
-
Laboratory testing when ordered by a healthcare provider
-
Clinical evaluation and treatment recommendations
-
Prescription services when medically appropriate
Clinical evaluations are performed by licensed healthcare professionals through our clinical partner.
Any educational questionnaires or preliminary assessments on MEYA's website are intended for informational purposes only and do not constitute a medical diagnosis, clinical evaluation, or guarantee of treatment eligibility.
2. Potential Benefits of Telehealth
Telehealth may offer benefits including:
-
Convenient access to healthcare services from home
-
Reduced travel time and associated expenses
-
Fewer in-person appointments when clinically appropriate
-
Access to licensed healthcare professionals
-
Flexible communication and scheduling options
-
Greater convenience in managing ongoing care
Actual availability and benefits vary depending on the treatment, provider, location, and individual medical circumstances.
3. Limitations and Potential Risks
Telehealth has certain limitations and risks, including:
-
A healthcare provider may be unable to perform a complete physical examination remotely.
-
Technical failures, connectivity problems, or system interruptions may affect communication.
-
Clinical decisions depend partly on the accuracy and completeness of the information provided by the patient.
-
Some medical conditions require in-person examination, diagnostic testing, or emergency treatment.
-
A provider may determine that telehealth is not appropriate for a particular patient or condition.
-
Electronic communications carry potential privacy and security risks despite reasonable safeguards.
A licensed healthcare professional may recommend in-person care, additional testing, or referral to another provider when appropriate.
4. Privacy and Security
Medical information submitted through Altro's clinical platform is handled according to the applicable privacy and security policies of the responsible clinical entities and healthcare providers.
Where applicable, protected health information is subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other relevant privacy laws.
Although reasonable safeguards are used to protect electronic communications, no electronic system can guarantee absolute security.
MEYA's general website privacy practices are described in our separate Privacy Policy.
